Schools Information

School Support is Offered to Schools in and Around Market Harborough, in Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.

Designed for Primary and Secondary Schools

I worked with schools in Market Harborough, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire in providing workshops and one-to-one sessions for children, young people, parents and professionals. My aim is to help you get the very best out of your children and staff, providing impact and ongoing success and evidence of this. I also work with families to create supportive environments for young people.

Although my sessions support children and teens with their specific needs and areas of mental health concern, my specialist areas are anxiety and anger.

Any blockage that prevents children and teens (and indeed teachers) from performing at their best, can be tackled using NLP giving you tools to add to your toolbox! These sessions promote resilience and preparing students not only for ‘today’ but for ‘the future’.

My services include:

• Session planning
• Provision of workbooks/worksheets
• Session evaluations
• Report writing
• Debriefing/updates to school staff
• Workshop delivery to pupils and staff
• 1.1 Coaching sessions provided to pupils and staff

I offer a school placement programme which is either a half day or a full day for a full school term. During this time you can utilise my time with one-to-one coaching with pupils or workshops with small groups.

Students

  • Workshops – for groups of up to 8 young people (for children facing similar issues workshops work well to maximise the impact  my time in school has on as many students as possible)
  • Nurture Groups – Groups of up to 3 young people (these groups work well for children that lack confidence in larger groups)
  • 1:1 Sessions (for students that are facing a specific issue that they do not wish to share in front of other students and that will require sessions that are specifically tailored to their specific needs)

Teachers

  • Training such as INSET days/staff meetings (this would cover topics such as spotting and supporting children with anxiety, confidence, resilience, trauma, friendship issues)
  • Coaching sessions for teachers to be able to look after their well-being (these would be face to face or online sessions delivered on a 1:1 basis to support teachers, with work or personal issues, so that their mental health is good and they are able to focus and deliver to a high standard when teaching.

The Benefit of Mental Health Support for the School

Young people who receive support will show:

  • Improved attendance
  • Improved behaviour
  • Higher achievements
  • Increased confidence
  • Better focus

How Will You Know Which Children Need Support / therapy?

I will help you to identify which young people, in Market Harborough, Leicestershire or Northamptonshire schools require support as well as listening to concerns that teachers may have, or concerns parents may have raised. Sessions will be evaluated and assessed so that the impact of the sessions is measured and it is clear when the child no longer requires sessions, although it is common and rather nice, that students often build a good rapport with me and wish to continue with sessions past the point or really ‘needing to’.

How Will You Know if the Young People Being Supported are Making Progress?

There will be regular reports, to feedback on the progress the young people are making. These will show the effect the sessions are having, week by week, finishing with a graph to visually demonstrate the student’s starting point and finishing point with me, using an evidence-based means of assessment.

Areas I Support Young People in Schools With

Anxiety – There are various types of anxiety, but this is very common among young people. I will work with these young people to help them to take control of their anxiety and give them strategies to help them to manage it.

Anger Management – Some young people struggle to control anger and can ‘explode’. Some children may seem angry all of the time! I help young people to take control of their anger and to learn how to manage it.

Behaviour Problems – Young people can present behaviour problems, which I can help them to manage and adjust.

School Refusal – When a young person refuses to attend a school or has poor attendance, I can work with them to address this and help them to get ‘back on track’.

Confidence Building – For young people who lack confidence I can improve this, to help them to flourish in the classroom on the sports field, and with friendships also.

Exam Nerves – As SATs, GCSE, and A levels approach young people can suffer from exam nerves, which can be detrimental to their achievement. I can work with young people to help them to reach their maximum capabilities.

Transition – Transition to a new class or school can affect some children. I can help these children to overcome their worries and to feel confident about starting something new.

Bullying – If young people face bullying, then this will affect their happiness and performance at school. I can help children to overcome this and to become more resilient.

Friendship Issues – When young people struggle to make or keep friends this can be a lonely time. I can work with them to show them how to make friends and keep them. I can also help them to recognise friendships that are not good for them too!
