Georgia Turner – Registered NLP4Kids Practitioner

‘…if children are given the necessary tools to succeed, they will succeed beyond their wildest dreams!’

– David Vitter

Don’t let your child’s issues hold them back from reaching their full potential! I can give your child the tools that they require in their toolbox, to help them to overcome their problems and child therapy will help your child and your family.

Although I support children with various mental health issues, I am an anger and anxiety specialist. I deliver face-to-face, online and in-school sessions. School sessions often allow me to collaborate with the school to ensure your child is well supported. Therapy sessions are for children aged 6 years – adults. Parent sessions are delivered online and will help you to support your child.

I help children with a variety of issues, but I specialise in anxiety and anger.

Anger

Is your child quick to get angry? Do you have to walk on eggshells around them? Is your child’s behaviour getting them into trouble at school? Do you feel like people are looking at you both, when you are out in public, because of your child’s behaviour?

If you have answered ‘yes’ to any of the questions above, child therapy will help. In just a short period of time, I can give your child to strategies to help them to communicate with family and friends, at home and at school, in a more appropriate way, whilst still addressing their needs.

Parents often come to me for support when their child has outbursts of anger such as shouting, throwing things, hitting things or even people. This can be really difficult to witness as a parent and can cause problems for the whole family when on days out, holidays or when people are visiting the family home.

Fortunately, child therapy will help your child to understand and control their anger, helping not only the child but the whole family.

What is the impact of anxiety on your child’s education?

Children with anxiety often feel distracted at school and are unable to concentrate and learn new things. Often friendships are affected as children may not be going to school regularly, or may attend school but may feel unhappy or depressed and struggle to see the joy in having friendships, they may have become introverted and withdrawn and don’t make an effort with others. School can be a lonely place without friends. Children, especially teenagers may refuse to go to school because of friendship issues, or challenges in learning. It is important to address any mental health issues that children may be experiencing as it is likely that it will affect them personally, their family, their friendships, and their education over time!

If you are looking for a friendly, helpful therapist specialising in working with children, living in and around Market Harborough, Leicestershire, then you are in the right place!

NLP therapy is an effective tool to get children ‘back on track’ but also have skills to deal with similar difficult situations in the future. However, challenging the problem, NLP therapy will help your child overcome it.

Does your child need counselling, CBT or NLP therapy?

Counselling is a useful tool but can often take 20 + sessions to get results. NLP is more proactive, usually taking 2-6 sessions to be effective. Often with counselling the child will need to go over what the problem is multiple times, which can be painful for the child to do. With NLP once we have established what the problem is, we will help to improve how you think and feel about the problem.

In doing so we don’t need to necessarily keep going over and over it, replaying the thoughts and building further anxiety. Children can leave a counselling session feeling full of emotion and sometimes feeling angry. Following an NLP session, it is typical that a child feels empowered, positive and upbeat.

Counsellors do not give advice and strategies, to help to tackle mental health issues. However, young people need guidance because verbalising and identifying feelings and emotions can be challenging. NLP offers guidance to help young people to identify their issues and how to tackle them. When this guidance is followed and implemented, positive results can be seen after just a few sessions.

Occasionally, parents ask about CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) as it tends to be more well-known than NLP. CBT and NLP are similar in some ways. For both of them the key aim is to help to identify and modify thoughts, behaviours and beliefs that  are causing depression, anxiety, anger or any other mental health issues. Both CBT and NLP aim to facilitate positive changes.

One key difference between CBT and NLP is that CBT is aimed at helping on a conscious level. This means results may be inconsistent and are limited. NLP uses the unconscious mind to make changes. This enables preferred behaviour, positive thinking and resourcefulness to occur automatically.  NLP offers tools to bring about long-term benefits.

My therapy room is in Market Harborough, Leicestershire. I also offer online sessions, for those that live further away or find online more suitable. Parents are often under the misconception that online sessions will be less effective, however after delivering a lot of sessions to children and parents online I can say that this is not the case. Feeling comfortable at home can really help children to open up and feel comfortable talking about their issues.

1000’s Of Young People Have Been Helped!  Don’t Just Take My Word For It!

“We came to Georgia for help when our daughter’s worrying and anxiety began to take over. It was mostly at bedtime but most conversations were around what she was worrying about. After the first session, we began to see a change and were given some great strategies that she took. She began to become an enjoyable positive thing again. We haven’t looked back and I feel that we have our happy, confident little girl back again.”

‘We knew our twelve year old needed additional support after seeing him struggle to adjust within his new secondary school setting. He struggled with expressing his emotions, manage big feelings, his communication style, auto pilot being fight mode and amongst other challenges signs of a low self esteem.
My son was a little dubious when I suggested therapy with Georgia. After some long chats he agreed to see how it went. Thankfully after meeting Georgia, his concerns went away and we embarked on weekly therapy sessions. At the start of the journey Georgia gained an understanding of our concerns and goals. For five weeks then moving to bi-weekly then our final session being after four weeks.

We started to see small improvements week by week – a result from the sessions and strategies, the aligned approach helped guide my son and support him with adopting a better communication style.

Georgia was very clear with the client confidentiality, but throughout I always felt like I was kept in the loop and we worked collaboratively. My son was happy to invite me in at the end of his sessions sharing things that had been covered, Georgia provided tasks, objectives and goals which kept us involved as a family and my son on track outside of the sessions. To see our child make positive improvements after five months has been a huge relief. He is more balanced and regulated. He still talks about Georgia fondly which is a testament to her approach, warmth and knowledge.

We highly recommend Georgias approach to any family considering reaching out to help support their child.’

‘My son Jacob had 5 sessions with Georgia and has found them so useful he was sad they stop.

Jacob has had a hard time regulating his emotions and could get angry with it. As a family it was difficult as we would miss appointments when he refused to leave the house was inconsolable at times.

Jacob found the sessions warm and friendly and always structured which works very well for him, he found Georgia very friendly and approachable.

I would leave Jacob and sit in a room next door so he knew I was there at first but as he found his feet he was happy to be dropped off. He fully engaged and still uses techniques given to him.’

Thank you Georgia.

“As a parent, I found Georgia remained very professional throughout my daughter’s therapy. She gave me enough information that I was kept in the loop. She made my daughter feel comfortable and I felt confident that she would help my daughter resolve her issues.”
