As a parent with over 10 years experience as a teacher, I consider myself very good at building rapport with children and teens, meaning they quickly feel comfortable in working with me. Therefore, we make progress with issues and quickly.
Often parents are surprised at the difference a handful of sessions can make!
I enjoy meeting the parent and child during the FREE consultation, then deliver 1:1 sessions, face-to-face at my therapy room, face-to-face at school (if the school is within 30 mins drive of Market Harborough), or online. Often, parents presume face-to-face sessions are better, but online is just as effective because the child feels safe and comfortable at home.
If children are reluctant to participate or you live too far away for face-to-face sessions and your child wouldn’t get on with online sessions, parent sessions are extremely useful. With these I will help you to understand the behaviour your child is presenting and to learn strategies to help your child to alter these behaviours.

Going back to when I first had my own children. It didn’t take long for me to realise that being at home full time with young children was HARD WORK, so I returned to teaching (for a break!) but struggled to find the balance between being a ‘good’ teacher and being a ‘good’ mum and being a ‘good’ wife and trying to have some kind of social life too!!!

It was at this point I started to develop anxiety and was the first time in my life looked at and considered my own mental health! Having struggled through that time in my life I went on to work with trainee teachers, teachers and sports coaches in improved lesson delivery. Although this was interesting, I knew it wasn’t ‘my calling’ in life!
A few years later I took up the offer of a free mental health course online, specifically about children and young people. Having found this incredibly interesting I was inspired to look into ways that I could use my knowledge and experience of working with children during my teaching career and combining this with my interest in mental health. Then I discovered NLP4Kids, and it was the perfect fit! Never having heard of NLP before this and was hooked! Soon spending every spare minute researching and reading about it and enrolling on a training course to become an NLP practitioner.
